White needle crystal. Slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents.

Production methodprocess of Methylparaben powder

Methylparaben Raw Materials is obtained by esterifying p-hydroxybenzoic acid with methanol in the presence of sulphuric acid. Dissolve p-hydroxybenzoic acid in excess methanol and slowly add concentrated sulfuric acid under stirring. After heating and refluxing for 10h, crystals were precipitated by pouring into water, and the crude product was obtained by washing with water, washing with sodium carbonate solution and washing with water. Recrystallised with water or 25% ethanol to get Methylparaben powder .
