Osthole powder is also known as methoxyparsley or parsley methyl ether (osthole, Ost), its chemical name is 7-methoxy-8-isopentenyl coumarin, the core structure is composed of benzene ring and pyranone ring. Osthole is a substance extracted from the fruit of the annual herb snake bed of the umbelliaceae family. It is yellowish-green to white crystalline powder, insoluble in water and cold petroleum ether, easily soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, chloroform, trichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and soluble in boiling petroleum ether. It has antispasmodic, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, enhanced immune function and broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. Osthole powder is a coumarin compound. Prismatic crystal (ether), acicular crystal (dilute ethanol), melting point 83 ~ 84℃, boiling point 145 ~ 150℃, soluble in alkali solution, methanol, ethanol, chloroform, acetone, ethyl acetate and boiling petroleum ether, insoluble in water and petroleum ether.
