Metformin hydrochloride powder is A biguanide oral hypoglycemic drug, also known as Metformin hydrochloride, Gewatate, and Medecon, with weaker hypoglycemic effect than phenformin, mainly to reduce glucagon secretion in A cell and promote glucose conversion into glycogen. It has the characteristic of not stimulating the secretion of insulin by the β-cells of the islets. Clinically, Metformin hydrochloride is mainly used to treat patients with type II diabetes mellitus who are not satisfied with simple diet control, especially those with obesity and hyperinsulinemia. Metformin hydrochloride not only has hypoglycemic effect, but also may reduce weight and hyperinsulinemia.
